Online order terms

These terms apply to orders placed on this website with Alcus Fuel Oil & Sons Inc., 238 Broadway, Amityville, NY 11701 (631-264-8800, alcusfuel@gmail.com).

Price

Online prices are not posted yet. We confirm the price per gallon with you by phone before delivery, and that price applies to your order. Price depends on your delivery address and the number of gallons delivered (larger deliveries have a lower per-gallon price). Minimum delivery 25 gallons.

Cash and credit card prices

We post two prices: the cash price (cash, debit and prepaid cards) and the credit card price, which includes a surcharge that does not exceed the amount our payment processor charges us, as permitted by New York General Business Law §518. We tell you both prices when we confirm your order.

Card authorization

When you pay by card we place a temporary authorization for the estimated amount (for "fill my tank" orders, up to 250 gallons). After delivery we charge only the actual gallons delivered at your locked per-gallon price (adjusted to the gallon tier for the actual amount delivered). Any unused authorization is released by your card issuer, typically within a few business days. If your tank takes more than the authorized amount, we'll contact you to collect the difference.

Your information and card data

We never ask for or collect Social Security numbers online. When card payment is offered, card details are entered into and handled by Stripe, our payment processor; we never see or store your full card number.

Delivery dates and priority

The delivery date you choose is a target. Weather, road conditions and demand can move a delivery by a day or so; if that happens we'll let you know the way you asked (call, text or email). A preferred time window is a preference, not a promised time. In cold snaps and emergencies, phone calls get priority, and service-contract and automatic-delivery customers are served first. Please make sure the fill pipe is accessible. If we can't deliver, any card authorization will be cancelled. Urgent or same-day deliveries may carry an extra fee; we'll tell you before we deliver.

Cash on delivery

COD orders are paid at the cash price to the driver in cash, or by card over the phone (debit at the cash price, credit at the credit card price). We do not accept checks.

Emergency and safety information

Our No heat / emergency page and any tips we give by phone, email or text are general safety information only. They are not professional, engineering or legal advice, and they don't replace a licensed technician, the fire department, the utility or 911. Any step you take yourself is at your own risk, including pressing a burner reset button, adding fuel to your tank (for example, diesel fuel from a gas station), or cleaning up a spill. Never use gasoline or any other fuel not meant for your heating equipment. To the extent permitted by law, Alcus Fuel Oil & Sons Inc. is not liable for damage, injury or costs that result from steps you take yourself. An urgent callback request sent through our website doesn't guarantee a delivery or service time. In an emergency, or if you smell gas or a carbon monoxide alarm goes off, leave the building and call 911.
